Manual 4.0 goes like the proverbial off a shovel ;)

Auto 4.6 does too ;)

2.5 needs a heavy right foot to go at any fast'ish pace - not 300tdi RRC slow but pretty close ;)

Mine gets full power nearer 1900 rpm. uphill tow like Grrrrr says but I have stupid tyres so gearing down to be expected. I have no chip/box all is standard engine 143000miles - responsiveness takes a little pause to kick into throttle demand and right foot needed even down hill, it will shift though when coerced :) likes 3rd for that

Nanocom will do the Gbox and pull up anything else stored in its memory like a Map fault or something loosing you power, maybe the turbo has seen better days?

You have EGR/plastic manifold?

They are all gutless at low revs, many have commented on here that with a manual, pulling away at a roundabout for instance is like playing Russian Roulette. The torque converter on the auto masks the problem.

That sounds like user error. My 2.5 manual isn't much different than the 4.0 auto, not enough to notice. You do feel the turbo when it kicks in. If they're having that much trouble getting off the line I suspect something is tired and not right.
