I'm going to dig up his thread and check I wasn't dreaming! i've already been on the phone to them. They said bring it in so they can have a look - so I will. Do you reckon those pipes on ebay would fit though? Or does a 300tdi sit a lot further forward as standard?

the 300 ones are about the same length ish - and i think have a different sex connector - i could be wrong but i know they are no good for the 200 conversion

That's what the fookers said to me there and I left half an hour later 75 quid worse off  Though I'd had enough of being messed around by a couple of other suppliers that didn't come up with the goods (after me waiting over a week!) so although hacked off I was relieved to actually get them! :(

So how are you getting on with the conversion then? Today I got my Landy MOT'd so have been able to give it a proper road test for the 1st time since I fitted the 200TDi - I'm well happy :D:D:D

Cheers

Bugger them then. I'll come up with something else, might even braze a bit of pipe in between them. Does any body know of an alternative pipe I can use, like braided flexi hose etc?

My engine's in now and all plumbed up. I just need to lower the rad mounts and get the rad / intercooler in. Other than that and the exhaust it's ready to go. So there's not too much to do, just a few little bits that are more time consuming than anything in terms of getting hold of them etc. I'll be glad once it's all done. I need to self my golf and sell my engine to build up my funds!

Anyone want a good mk2 golf 1.6?

Not far off. The down pipe rubs against my clutch pipe union bracket so that's coming off and being re-positioned tomorrow. Other than that and getting the rad in, it's all nearly ready to go. The garage reckon that I don't need to lower my rad mounts to drop in the 200 tdi disco rad and intercooler assy. They've told me that I will just need to cut into part of the mounting bracket at the top slightly. Is that an option?

Off to work and uni now. Got all day tomorrow free to crack on :D
Cheers

told you to shift yer clutch pipe over last week and i would still cut the rad brackets down

Oh bollocks! I missed that little tip :( I've got a full day to crack on tomorrow so I'll be getting on with it and maybe getting it all running. Here are the jobs left to do:

1) Drill out clutch pipe union bracket spot welds and re-fit further to right
2) Join fuel return pipe from pump to fuel return pipe to tank
3) Clean out intercooler
4) Fit intercooler & rad
5) Re-fit cab floor
6) START-UPPP!!!

I should quite easily be able to crack on with that tomorrow, weather permitting. I then have a couple of other little jobs to do like remove the power steering pump and make a new bracket to support the alternator.

Does any body have a pic of their rad in place with the top mounts cut to fit as opposed to the chassis mounts being lowered? I'd like to see what it looks like.

Cheers

No I still haven't bloody got it sorted, I've been at uni all week and then obviously with it being stored somewhere I don't have access to it after 5 and it's bloody dark! I lowered the rad mounts the other day so that all in and sorted now. Only thing left to do is fit the pipes between the intercooler and rad and a little bit of exhaust tinkering then it's sorted and ready to role =) I caaaaaan't wait! Taking wayyy too long for me though, I should have had it all sorted in 3 days but it never goes to plan does it. I havent had any work for a few weeks, then it's piled on and wedged around uni work.

I made very good progress this morning and solved a lot of problems. The clutch pipe has been moved and the down pipe fitted. I've finally got the earth strap sorted out and I've got all my plumbing work for the radiator sorted out. I also managed to make an intercooler top hose from a mixture of pipes and hoses and I've just looped my power steering fluid pipes so that there's a reservoir of oil lubrication the pump. That way, if I do decide to fit a power steering box - I can =) I hand primed the engine on the lift pump - turned the key (battery is next to flat) and it jumped into life! Even with no glow plugs. Now that's an engine. I'll be finishing the job off on Wednesday next week. I'm very happy in deed!

Nice one! :) Feels good the 1st start up doesn't it :D

A week and a half on from my conversion I'm really really pleased and it just gets better as you tweak a few bits and pieces. Has totally transformed the Landy :)

Yeah, it just sparked into life. I had to remember that it didn't need any pre-heating :D It sparked straight into life and it sounded sprightly, even without the turbo connected. Of course, the cab filled with smoke because I still haven't put the floor in and the down pipe finnishes very neatly under the bulkhead! Then again, TDi smoke tastes sweeter than nasty dirty N/A smoke! Must be all the red diesel that was in the fuel filter!
