confussed ?

hi i have afreelander 2001 diesel and wher the air fillter is underneath their is a sensor does any one know what this is and what it does because mine is unpluged but the car is running fine but when i pluged it in is would not run right and help would be helpful ia i,am just one woman trying to make a difrence thanks in advance :doh:

Definitely sounds like the MAF sensor.
You'll need to sort it as your ecu will be running on default values & it will affect your fuel consumption.
