Hi everyone i decided to do an engin oil change on my t reg freelander today, and i think ive drained the wrong thing. the first nut i removed only about a ltr of oil came out and when i pourned new oil in nothing came out of that hole. i then found the real sumo nut and alot of oil came out of that, so im worried that ive drained the wrong thing can anyone help?

could possibly be ird drain then if you go further round towards the back and up you will find filler/level plug for ird dont run it till your sure ird is full

no not engine oil ,yes you fill through level plug ,did oil that you drained look like engine oil (black) ird uses ep gear oil 75w90 or similar

yes it was black just like the engin oil,ok thanks i will do that tommorow. thanks for the info much appreciated

it was about 8 inches behind the sump nut on the ally casing, and no unfortunitly i removed it myself thinking it was the correct thing to do

no problem ,there is another useful bunch on thread my back end is skipping there bound to be able to give advice on any future mechanical problems:)

IRD filler/level plug. Fill ird until it starts running out of the filler:
