Hi Guys,

My brain is totally mashed about what tyres i want for my Disco,:(

It is lifted 2" on a terrafirma H/D kit and has 235/70/16 Amazon technic mud terrains on, and although they perform reasonably well both on and off road, a recent P&P trip to Frickly, i found i dint have enough diff clearance and had to divert fron some routes from my mates who run 85`s.
But, and here is the problem, i have heard 85`s are **** on road, and i do a lot of road drivin, and this is my only car, so is this true?

Or, what size should i be lookin at, some people say 75`s will lift and are still ok for road, and motorways, but i dunno, really confused, any ideas anyone, all help and advice is appreciated, cheers.

Craig

i would say if you can afford it get a set of road tyres 75,s for travelling and a nice set of 85,s when off roading only my opion mind

Cant afford both mate!

The Amazons are good, even tho they get **** reviews, i was impressed with the grip they provided, and the strength of them, also on road, there not too noisy, and i regulary tonk on at over 80mph, but as i said, just need a little more height.
Thinkin 75`s so far.
Anybody run these???

C.

assuming we are comparing 235/85/16 MT to 235/70/16 MT.

road handling...no difference, as handling has already changed from standard after fitting lift kit.

acceleration.......will be slower on the 85's

hill climb.........you may need 4th gear (85's) as oppose to 5th gear (70's) due to increase on tyre rolling circumference

motorway run.......more economical on 85's as rolling circumference has increase

braking........slightly longer on 85's....heavier tyre I suppose (correct me if wrong)

diff clearance.....85's are generally 31.8" diameter......70's are normally 28.9" diameter....so difference of approx 3".....divide by 2 (above axle/under axle)....you gain 1.5"
