Hi all, this post straddles a couple of areas, so I will put it in general..
Has anyone binned their Disco 1 air box and fitted a cone filter (K&N or similar) or has anyone fitted a Disco 1 air box in their Defender?
At a crossroads and can't decide which way to go?

If you want less power, more noise and to reduce engine life then it's a great idea.
I agree with this, i am currently trying to get my 3.9 disco to quiet the feck down on the induction roar and the last owner had fitted a cone type filter due to an untidy gas install, to me it seems to take warm air once the engine is up to temp, it is noisy and i really dont trust the filtering ability of the thing either, looks nice though :/

What side is the wing air intake? If it's on the left, the standard 90/110 cylindrical filter housing is probably your best option. Seems the easiest in terms of pipe routing. And doesn't compromise air filtration like K&N filters inevitably do.

Don't have a wing intake and I looked at the proper Defender set up but it is ££££.
I will try and get the original air box in.
