Condensation Problem

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help.

Over the last week or so and with the change in temperature, the inside of the windscreen of my 2.5 HSDE is running with condensation either first thing in the morning or when I get back to the car to drive home at night.

As far as I can tell, there are no obvious leaks round seals etc and the spare tyre compartment is bone dry.

Any ideas where and what I should be looking for?

If there is condensation then it implies that there is water in the car. Check your front carpets for dampness, if it is damp then check the air con hose through the bulkhead is not blocked. Failing that it could be either your heater matrix or the blend motors on their way out.

If none of these are present suspect door seals or if you have a sun roof the seal or drain tubes.

If it was the matrix or blend motors then you would be using some water, does the car have a sweet smell inside?

I can't dedect any noticeable smells.

I'll check the car at the weekend.

Another thing to try if you have Air Conditioning.
Before you switch off at night, on your way home for the last 5- 10 mins or so, run the air con on cold at your windscreen.
This may help your problem as it makes the glass the same temp as outside making it less likely to cause your problem. If it continues then at least you know it's not just the weather.

if its yer heater you'l notice an 'oily' film on yer screen from the coolant. if its rain water or from yer A/C evaporator drains it should dry completely. another sign of it being yer heater is the mist getting worst if you accelerate hard while the demister is on
