Hi,

Can someone help me - I have an apple mac computer and want to download some video from a JW site.
I am NOT computer savy so it needs to be easish? I can download youtube vdeos because there was a free easy to use program available.
I only want to use these videos for myself - Car Electric tutorials and I do pay a subscription fee but when I have time to watch them I have no internet connection!!

Hope someone can help

All the best

Mark

HI,

No I did not know that!! I thought I had put it in general stuff. Hopefully it will be moved? Or do I re do it?

JW is the same has whatever youtube is? You can watch videos on the site but they cannot be downloaded by people like me - cant find the URL etc etc

Hope that makes sense

HI Paul

That is one of my problems - where I usually hover / click to get the URL it does not give me that is just comes up with Powered by JW player -

https://www.jwplayer.com/learn-more/

The typical video i am trying to download is - //www.scannerdanner.com/scannerdanner-premium-chapters/basic-electrical-concepts/484-basic-electrical-review-part-1.html

Maybe I am being a bit thick but I am struggling

Best regards

Mark
They do have some videos on YouTube. The rest is on a premium pay for website/forum and so the media will be protected/encrypted.

Obviously if you can find the videos on youtube you can you a youtube ribbing (google youtube to video) and make sure you have a good virus checker (macs are riddled now days). You could try putting the URL from that site in and see what happens

As said above, premium pay per view site .. even if you can get a file to download you'll be lucky to get it to play due to encryption, and make sure you have good AV software.

The other issue is that the sites encryption will be changing to meet different rips, so you'll be forever following your nose trying to continue downloading when they don't want you to.

If you need these particular videos, I'd suggest you pay for them! That'll be easiest .. or look for them on torrents ...

Hi Paul and anyone else reading this.

Maybe I did not make it clear? I do pay for access to the premium videos and happy to do so BUT my problem is I only have access to the internet when I am at work. I do not have access where I stay so that means I cannot watch and study in my time off,

I asked the site if I could download but they say no re copyright and I suppose they do not know me. I would not do anything to infringe that - ie only watch and use them for my benefit but like I say they don't know me.

I suppose I was hoping some Landyzone member was an hacker or some other thing and they would let me know how to do it ( if it was easy for someone like me) via a private message???

Not wanting to be bad or dishonest - just want to learn and pay for.

Thanks anyway

Mark

Hi PYDG,

Can you recommend a virus checker for my Mac?

Thanks

Mark

So there are a few free ones I think work for macs AVG I’ve heard is ok. The one I use is from the University can’t remember it’s name I’ll let you know when I’m home.

App zapper is good for removing apps that you’ve installed and don’t use.

Otherwise any big name antivirus software will be fine - apart from McAfee, he’s a ****.
