look yu - i learned my programming skills on 6502 assembly language! the first high-level language i learned was paper-tape "basic" for a DEC (who are they) PDP8!
that doesnt make me a retro-nerd - it makes me pre-historic.
oh - and by the way - i still have some spares for the Acorn Atom, Vic20, Spectrum(s) and even for the Tangerine (anyone else know what they were?)

Ok my 2 pence worth
1. There is a reason you cant buy Dell in the shops
Cos there crap and if you could buy them in the shops you take them back.
2. No two Dells are the same because they build them from the cheapest parts available that day.
3. I have done major desktop / laptop deployments (20,000 + machines)
and none of the big boys will touch them if they have the cash.
Spend the extra cash and buy a real PC.
HP/Compaq etc

The Mad Hat Man you must be my age because I started on a PDP 1105
and coding using 6502 / z80 assembler.
It's good to some of us old boys are still out there.

i have to disagree with yu about dell (as i sed before as many opinionsas peeps) the local council all use Dell pc's as do the local schools here in Hampshire

Yep but the schools and local councils aren't major (well off) corporations.
I would vote that they spend my (Hampshire) council tax on the cheep stuff too.
