Hi there, Decided to have A go at changing my rotten exhaust today while the suns out!. Its giving me nothing but grief!

Ive had a search around see what I can find on the forum but no real success with that, Just wondering what's the easiest way to remove the downpipe from the turbo? there are 3 bolts that are upside down that look like they are going to be an absolute bugger to undo. I cant really get at them from the top, bottom or side easily.

If anyone fancies having a crack at these bolts for some cash / beers / bbq. FEEL FREE to pop over (Anstey - Leicester) because I have completely lost all patience with it...

Surely people have to change this part over at some point because of the flexi that's apart of it. and I'm hoping someone reads this and knows of an easier way around it :)

Mine snapped and or were burnt off and needed a stud extractor the other option which one of mine needed was to drill it out and fit a bolt instead, but mine was on a ramp in the garage where the nephew works which made it a lot easier and luckily I didnt pay much it took a good 4hrs which at garage prices would have been a lot..

I'll never understand why these things. Don't simply have holes with nuts n bolts instead of studs, stupidest idea in motoring history

Agree!! .. I have actually got the exhaust off!! managed to remove the turbo 90 degree bend without too much hassle and then rattle gun it off while it was on the floor. There would have been no chance in removing this while it was still attached to the car whatsoever! Happpy days! now to continue getting dirty and finish this thing :high5:

Here's a tip if anyone else ends up doing this job! Fit the elbow to the new downpipe with a new gasket before putting it back on, I didn't think about this, refitted the elbow from the top then realised... how the hell am I going to tighten it back up! derp... Timewasted
