Disco 2 Cold Arse

As the mornings are colder I am really wishing my heated seat worked. There is power there and the passenger seat works but the element is clearly broken as my arse remains cold. Has anyone changed the element on one and of so how hard is it to do? There was a guy on ebay offering the service to P38 owners but he is miles away though I am sure he would do a Disco but would prefer to do it myself.

I am in exactly the same position.
Passenger side works, driver's doesn't.

just follow the simple how guide almost same as the p38 its the element broken just cut out the burnt bits resolder heat shrink job done

Get hold of RAVE and follow the procedure in there. Its a seat out job and you need a bit of room to work to get the covers off to see the elements. I did my drivers side recently, and the main problem that I haven't yet resolved is the cushion cover is held on with a long clip strip sown into the cover - this broke in removing the cover so the cushion is now loose. The cushion material on the door side of the seat had collapsed as well and half the material came off with the element, so I plan to replace this with an Exmoor trim cushion.

Covers are originally held on with hog rings - my local indie specialist recommends cable ties to replace them.

Lastly, you need to replace both elements as a pair (cost just over £100) as the design has changed and you can't mix and match them.. The new ones are a diffferent shape as well - they don't go over the side bolsters which is where mine had blown. Obviously that was a weakness.

Pretty straight forward I cut the hogrings and replaced with cable ties oh and uprated the stats

I fitted this kind http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-Seat-U...948336?hash=item41a17930b0:g:okgAAOSw8-tWajEz and they work a treat, a slight addaptation in the wiring is required to addapt the original plug to the pad's circuit that's all, and yes followed instructions from RAVE and used cable ties instead of those metal rings which were there and left out those from the middle where the pad comes, not noticeable
