Coils to Bags !!!

Only had the car for a month and when i bought it it had had a new set of coils put on it for what reason i don't know and neither did the guy who i bought it off. After a quick look round this morning i found the compressor (unplugged), the valve block, air lines to all four corners and an air tank. My questions are can i check the compressor by just reconnecting it and seeing if it pumps out air with out it upsetting anything else. When i start her up i have the Messsage EAS Manual come on the screen a bit of bleeping and nothing else. The manual height switch will not illuminate but the flat tyre switch ??? next to it illuminates when pushed in. Next question is where is the height sensors and how many should there be ?? If anyone has done this conversion could they let me know how hard it was and did they find the ride so very much better.

Air suspension is best. But it must be maintained. Cost depends on how much of it is left in place. It may have been working fine but the bags had gone and the PO decided coils were as cheap as new airbags. You are gong to need four new bags as a very minimum. Providing they are basically sound compressors and valve blocks are pretty easy and cheap to do up.

Q for Wammers - just curiosity. Do they have to knacker the bag retention setup when fitting coils?

There are four height sensors, one per wheel.
Assuming that the sensors are ok and the ecu fit, you would need to budget for the four new bags, valve block overhaul and compressor kits.

Or, if you are feeling flush, a new compressor.

I fitted Arnott Gen 3s to mine ... don't really know if they are worth the extra cash as such, but the car sways less than it did on the OEM ones, which I like.

OEM air bags still very good.
