Hi all. Well finally put car in garage and had new Valeo clutch, flwheel, spigot bearing, release bearing(nsk) and a new slave cylinder. Clutch pedal is nice and light and clutch all seems to work as it should however there seems to be a horibble screaming noise every time the pedal is depressed and seems to continue until released again. I see some of you have brought this up in previous posts but i was so dissapointed after doing what i thought was the write thing and replacing the whole lot. Garage has now taken car back in, but as i supplied garage with the parts i fear its going tobe hard to see both where the blame lies ie doggy new bits or something else. Any views ???

Sounds very much like a faulty release bearing.
Hard to put the blame on anyone. Sometimes you just get a bad one mate.:doh::doh:

Quick update. Car went back up on ramp and was completley stripped down again. I measuresd the gearboxshaft and it was 7/8" well actually 0.874", then I measured the bore of the spigot bush now fitted to the end of the crankshaft (using a bore mic). The spigot bush bore was too small, measuring the same as the shaft and infact smaller to the edge (perhaps bruised, when fittter had driven it home). Anyway pulled bush out and replaced it with another new one (this time using a special drift made out of plastic). Before fitting new, i measured the bore of the bush and it was 0.878" and when fitted it closed down to 0.876". Car was all put back together and bingo. NO noise, lovely light clutch pedal, and silky gearbox. So to that end anyone who is experincing squeeling noise when pushing clutch pedal down it could be spigot bush and if not the release bearing. Hope this might help anyone else experiancing trhe same. Intersting read somewhere that the early series landrover bushes required reaming out after fitting (11.2mm)

its the same bush in series and all 4 cylinders since ,but is often a problem with td5s as is tighter fit ,usually diagnosed as noisy when pedsal half way down but not fully
