Hi guys, newbie just registered.

Have a 99 freelander 1.

Had the seized pivot arm in gearbox/clutch.

Took out pivot arm, cleaned it up. Put in a new clutch kit.
Put in a new slave cylinder kit and bracket.
Changed gear oil.

The car will not go into gear when running.
It is as if the slave cylinder does not push the pivot rod far enough to release the friction plate(if thats the way it works)

When i ram it into reverse the vehicle moves when in idle therefore prooving that the clutch isnt engaged when foot pressed in. The slave cylinder only moves about an inch, if that when the clutch pedal is pressed.

Need some advice here as it is driving me mad.

Thanks
Andy

Hi

Welcome. I suggest you pop over to the introduce yourself section on the main page first. Forum etiquette etc etc and before somebody isn't as nice to you.

Then do some searches.

If everything is correctly assembled at the box end? Take a look at the pedal clevis pin. The hole can get an amazing amount of slop in it. Any lost movement there is lost motion at the release lever.

hi andy. sorry only one gave you a proper answer.. ive found this on here too......
anyway did you get this problem sorted as ive had the same problem for months and in about to change my clutch

What's with the  !

You both sound like my teenage kids - want want want.

Landyzone is a community and it isn't here to give people answers just because they ask - its here as people give answers because they want to.

"sorry only one gave you a proper answer.. ive found this on here too"

You joined in May, you've made 3 posts requesting help and have had 1/2 a dozen helpful responses on each. You have made 11 posts in total 10 of them on your own threads (without any thanks) plus this fecking rediculous post.

So where is the help you've given to others?

Now your latest post you want someone to come round and change your clutch for you !!

I deleted the next bit - but you can get my jist.

Excuse me........:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
The site is for people asking for help..
You like that ASK FOR HELP.

Not for people like yourself who give crap to members for asking questions.
and for not thanking people, I would do if there comments actually fixed my problems so go on, look at what I have posted.
Like I really care.
To be fair this is the most unhelpful forum I have been on....
But THANK YOU to the people who actually help on here...

This is for the people who know everything and think every one else should know. and the best of it your a senior member who should know better.

and yes my last post was asking and going to pay for some one to do my clutch... so whats that got to do with you.. lets think errrrr NOTHING
unless you was willing to help... but I forgot your a .......
deleted the last bit but you get my jist.

sorry if any offence is caused

Ive stopped reading what some ppl were writing there.

So, i found out the problem. I had bought sub-standard stuff from ebay. Namely a clitch slave cylinder and bracket. Turns out the bracket was not manufactured correctly (not correct size to the original) and the slave cylinder hydraulic was not strong enough to operate a new borg clutch.

I bought another set from a landrover dealer and 'hey presto!'

Thanks for your input guys. Even the big ego's on here.

Andy

Glad you have it sorted.

No egos here. Just friendly banter. Better get used to it if you're going to hang around.

Most of us don't bite :D

We just get fed up with one post wonders, no introduction, just a question. And we try and help and get no thanks or a reply.

There is plenty of sub standard stuff out there, so beware when buying non oem gear. Most of us at some point have been caught out over something.
