Clutch master cylinder renewal.
Mines had been leaking for some time.. thought it was just water on the pedal due to the state of my bulkhead! When ah removed the box .. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f41/clutch-pedal-box-pipe-removal-75684.html
ah noticed that it was actually clutch fluid!! As it had been like this for some time ah decided to replace the whole master cylinder as ah didn’t know if the insides were to far gone or not.
(Ah’ve heard ye can do this job with the pedal box in, but after ye remove the pipe it’s just a case of undoing 6 bolts to remove it.) Anyways, after a bit of cleaning…
Here’s how ah did it…
The pedal box removed and a wee clean with a wire brush….
removed the 6 screws and bracket..
then the cover plate and gasket…
next ah loosened the two bolts and nuts holding it to the box with two 13mm spanners…
then ah held the ‘locking’ nuts with one 13mm spanner and removed the end nut with another 13mm spanner…
and removed the master cylinder…
The new master cylinder…
Ah removed the bit where the pipe goes into by sticking it in a vice and using a 15mm socket to remove it, gave it a good clean out and stuck it on the new m/c….
At this point ah gave the box and pedal a better clean, primed it and painted it…
Next ah took the 2 locking nut off the old push rod…
and stuck them on the new one…
Then ah stuck some sealant around the m/s and fed the push rod through the pedal…
then ah flipped it up, pressed the pedal to get better access and stuck the washer and nut on the end of the push rod…
tightened up the 2 bolts holding the m/c to box…
pressed the pedal again and tightened up the nut on the push rod…
and stuck the gasket, cover and bracket back on…
Then it was just a case of sticking a new gasket to the bulkhead..
sticking the box back in and bolting it back up…
Next ah stuck the pipe back on the M/C…
and then reconnected the pipe to the rubber one goin’ to the slave cylinder…
then it’s just a case of filling the m/c and bleeding it through
