hi , i hope somebody can shead some light on this problem for me?
i had a leak runnig down the clutch pedal found out it was the master clylinder. i bought a new one followed the manual to the letter put it all back together but the clutch pedal will not lift up on its own you have to pull it up by hand. ive think it my be down to ajustment on the but when bleeding it they did not seem to be much resistant on the clutch. please help new to landrovers. the landrover is a 90 defender 1997 300 tdi

iam sure i have bled the air completely out of the system, the master cylinder was a new unit only changed because there was fluid on clutch pedal. the pedal will not return unless pulled by hand?

So when you push the pedal down can you get it in gear and drive?does your slave cylinder work when you push the clutch?have you checked inside the bell housing to see if slave is leaking other than that if no leaks then can only be a bleed problem cant think of any thing else you should bleed out a td5 a real bitch.

by joe ive done it thanks for your help i went and bought one of those all singing and dancing bleeding kits the one which you connect to a tyre, all done in a matter of minutes. its all good fun?
