Clutch biting point is very low

Hello folks

Last week I parked up my Defender, today is the first time that I've driven it and the clutch seems to be acting up. I've never had any clutch slip, or that horrible clutch smell and there is no leak from the master cylinder.

The biting point is right at the bottom of the pedal, about 1" from the bottom of pedal travel. I've read online this evening and people have mentioned that it is the master cylinder and slave, but these people have all had fluid leaking, I don't have this.

Any ideas on what it could be? As I've checked the obvious stuff (fluid) and it all looks good there.

You may have some air in the system due to failing seals,Or the clutch fork is breaking up and about to fail.Hope it is the first one.
 
Bleed it and see if it improves, or pump the pedal a couple of times and see if the bite point comes up a bit

Check that the clutch pedal is returning fully to the top of it's stroke, is the return spring still in one piece/connected. If the pedal doesn't come right up then the master cylinder recouperating valve cannot completely refill the cylinder.
You can try pulling the pedal up with your foot before pushing in the clutch down, if that changes the bite point on take up then the M/C pedal return spring may be the problem.
