After a fairly long run today, I noticed that the footwell vents were blowing hot air, whereas the dash vents were blowing cold air.

Temperature was set to 23°C and outside temp was 12°

Climate was set to full auto, both for air direction and fan speed.

To test it, I increased temp to 28°C and the dash vents started dispensing warm air too.

Is this normal?..

Full aoto seems weird on ours. I have ours on auto but with foot and face vents selected. Seems to work well like this.
Ours works well on manual, but auto does this hot/cold mix which I've not experienced with any other vehicle. I'm thinking some mix flap motor is knackered, but then again, it would always throw cold air out if this was the case.

The face level vents always seem to blow colder than the foot ones - I assume it's designed that way to keep you awake.....
I tend to select air direction manually but leave the rest on auto.
I quite often find I need to close the face vents almost completely to avoid getting cold hands......

I think when it's on Auto Temp you do seem to get a mixture of hot & cold air to keep it at the temp you set. Make sure the air temp sensor is clean too. It's behind a little grill down by the headlamp height adjuster.

Thanks @Landmark2

I actually changed my sensor just a couple of weeks ago and also cleaned the blower´s hamster wheel (filthy, filled with fossilised insects, twigs and bits of the cabin "pollen filter"). The old sensor, even though I removed it and thoroughly cleaned it, was still noisy from a failed bearing.

Seems a bit odd that, even on a cold day, dash vents still dispense cold air, but what you say makes sense. I just though that this mix would happen inside the system, before the air is dispensed into the cabin. I just close the dash vents, but that defeats the point of having climate control. On manual it works ok, so I don´t think any of the flaps are stuck.
