Love my freelander 2 and owned a year hassle free. But this year after a heavy rain its a nightmare to start! I get in and push the button and it just clicks. May take upto 10 times before it stops clicking and starts. I've cleaned starter terminals and battery terminals. New battery. But every time its damp outside it does it. Couple days of dry weather it starts first time..any ideas? Thanks.

What year is your FL2 have you added the extra earth from the battery to starter motor bolt. also regarding the clicking it's pointing to the contacts and plunger in the starter motor, purchase the kit and get then changed out only about 40 minutes job.

Sounds like the starter solenoid contacts are burnt. Easy and cheap to replace.
