I am doing a rebuild off my landrover 90 td and i am going to steam clean and pressure wash the engine and gearbox as a complete unit i was just wandering is there anywhere on them where i should avoid getting the water in?

Cheers, james.

If you are going to wash an engine and gearbox, please remember that these are from a LAND ROVER, and the same holes that have caused the oil slick on your driveway second in size to only that of the gulf of mexico slick, CAN LET WATER IN!

use a de-greaser like gunk and an old paint brush then nothing with any more pressure than a hose pipe, steam cleaners and landrover engines don't mix very well

i steam clean them daily never had a problem if your worried wam up then refill oils if in runable vehicle , if units are on the floor seal up all openings ,including gear stick housing, blow off things like stater and alternator with air line, steam cleaner is better than cold wash as it dries quicker with been hot ,you can allways spray with paraffin or some detergent first,i would clean engine and g/box seperately so you can clean bellhousing and flywheel housing,
