Hi all, just opened my bonnet for
the first time since going on yarwell off road course at LRO show...

Didn't realise how bad it was!
Any advice on how to clean it would be appreciated!

Jet wash? Cold water/hot water?

Should the engine be running? Should the engine be cold?

Cheers in advance!

You could try posting it an advice section, rather than in Members Vehicles area ;)

Just wash it off carefully with whatever you have, I use a hot wash/ steam cleaner, buckets and brush or hose are fine too.
If your engine bay is filthy you are probably going into mud and water much too fast.

Ah yeah, that would be a good idea!

I probably way tbf I was a little eager.. Will be taking a more sensible approach in future lol

Cheers for the advice

Put a carrier bag or bit of plastic sheet over the alternator and any sensitive electrical areas, you can tie them on with binder string if needed. If there is oil on the engine in some areas, go over them first with degreaser, then wash it all off as best you can. Restart and drive for a bit after to dry it all out.:)
