So because it needs the seals doing (which is a piece of **** to do btw) it's only worth scrap price!

how did you work that out?
Question is, is it only seals and if so how did they go out? And his diagnostic skills are a little questionable. and when was the last time Doc was right:rolleyes:

no different than bolting new body parts on a fender then:rolleyes:

what causes seals weep on rams in general:rolleyes:

how hard is to diagnose oil weeping from a ram:rolleyes:

he's very rarely right when you're involved

:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

It is the jack/hydrolic pump needing rebuilt, not the cylinder/ram.

Miss use is the usual culprit
how do you know?

it is typically the seals in the ram and the pump that need re-sealing ( I do this quite often btw)

they get that way with use, and being as though this is advertised as being used what's the problem

:p

His first post said bad jack
in the rulez it states I don't have to read the whole fred and can jump to the wrong conclusion on anything :)

i'd change both sets as a matter of course anyway tbh ;)

and not for the price he is asking, point being it is non working and price should be reflected. If it was in good used shape then maybe.

Like selling leaking brake calipers for 1/2 of new...... they only need new seals

not really the same thing is it!

he said could do with changing not need changing anyroad :p

So it needs seals so its fooked lol ok yea your gonna sell that!!

Its the base seal on the pressure release valve thats leaking as its perished, I noticed it leaking so cleaned up the whole unit filled it with a bit of hydraulic fluid then searched for leaks in the morning.

should be sold as scrap iron price......... No different than a wrecked car only worth scrap price

You really are a fool aren't you, if you had a vehicle that failed its pre MOT check on the sheet because it needed a new exhaust only that would be worth scrap price would it ?

No, no it wouldn't  it'd be worth whatever the vehicle is worth minus the cost of the exhaust and labour for fitting plus a little more for the hassle

I reckon he worked it out through 9 generations of inbreeding……...

How do seals in anything fail ? with use and age  rubber perishes when its used

Its cos he's a troll :(

So a leak from a rubber seal means a rebuild does it ? And how do you know its the pump……….did I state that ?

I believe the inbreeding would cover that again…...

Could be fixed with a bit of teflon tape but its not the way I'd do it if wanting to stop the leak, I just don't have the need for the crane anymore

Ive seen plenty of cars on Ebay fail their MOTs on minor things and the owners have sold them for just over scrap value because they didnt want/need the hassle of fixing them.

I bought a Mercedes A class that had failed on a rear shock absorber bush that had perished for £170. Changed the bush for £3. New MOT £40, car worth about £750 now.

Ill give you £75 delivered for the lift but I want the new seals putting on it first.
