Disco 2 Choke not working?

Wondering if any experts in here can point me in the right direction. Disco 2 2001, V8.
Starts no problem but it's like there is no choke operating while it is still cold. Sluggish and jumpy till it warms up. Feathering throttle helps. Once warmed up it runs like a dream. Old school description is it's like I've pushed in the choke too quickly. Any ideas guys?

I’m no expert, but Iffy ECU engine temp sensor, incorrect spark plugs or iffy leads or coils, get the engine management ECU plugged into a diagnostic computer and maybe other factual issues can be added to the list and not guesses.

ECU engine temp sensor seems to be the popular choice on other Google results. Just need to find out where that is on the engine. Doesn't seem an expensive part to change and is a common fault so even if that doesn;t cure it, it won't do any harm methinks.
