well i like checker plate to a point its great for wing tops (cuppa tea and spanners) and i would not mind it in my load bed and my footwells as purely a practicle thing and on my front bumper treads for standing on the bumper thats about as far as my checker plate goes and it would have to be painted in the load bed and in the footwells other wise it looks awful

I likes it, it don't stay shiny for long unless you want to varnish it or summat to keep it that way, I don't mind it dulled down and it certainly hides a multitude of sins

I'm not a massive fan but the chequer plate on my wing tops & bonnet is great for safely accessing the front of my roof rack.

Even Land Rover have copied the after market trend for chequer plate; comes as standard on this ltd edition:

I know it's not to everyone's taste, but I simply copied an idea from one I saw near Stonehaven with a little addition of my own in making the side panels from some scrap I "salvaged" from work.

The rear door was in an horrendous state so I simply sandwiched the original lower half of the door between two chequered plates and now it's as solid as a rock, a bit heavy with the spare on, but certainly robust.

I've been asked to sell it three times since I did it.

My chequer was looking tatty so I had it powder coated silver ready to put back on after the respray,

I've got wing tops, bonnet, sills and rear corners, I don't like it on the doors.

One last late opinion, I haven't yet but are thinking about fitting them to help protect my wing-tops, as every time my bonnet gets lifted, who ever's looking in drops their elbows onto my guards denting them, If it goes into the workshop, you can bet it will come back with more dents than it went in with.

I find it handy to step on the bonnet and wings, then stand on the roof so I can watch the motorbike racing better when I go to Ty Croes(Anglesey circuit)

It all depends on your vehicle and what you use it for I guess. If somebody stood on my guards or bonnet Then I would have to cut their balls out !!

I kinda like the sound of this ... tho' it would be white on white for me ... I'll maybe wait and see if I can see one first before I decide.

Yeah, It doesn't bother me if someone stands on mine, it's a Land Rover after all

Doubt if it looks that good in real life, probably made from a cheap pork based meat substitute:violent:

I like chequer plate, especially on the wings. Protects the paint, allows to to put stuff on it, stand on it without damaging the paintwork. Looks cool aswell.
