I have a small leak on my gearbox. I will get it fixed, but it would suit me best if I could do it in three weeks, when I`m in the alps anyways. How do I check the level on the gearbox, so it doesn`t fall below dangerous levels?

It's a fill to the level box, so remove the filler plug whilst engine running (I'm sure someone can enlighten you to the correct temp)run it through all the gears P R N D and back to p holding for 5 secs in each gear and fill until it starts overflowing.

This box, where is it?

Is it just filling it to the correct level/overflowing and thats it?

Marius, have a look here. there is loads of info on gearboxes and oil/filter changes. there is also a "how to" with pictures.

Thanks, I have tried finding the answer there, but all I can find is the guide for a complete drain of fluids and service. I just want to top it of until it goes to the garage, but I`m not sure where I refill.

does this help Marius? (sorry saint, forgot you had done a wiki for this!) http://tinyurl.com/n8rfngs
