Only if it failed in the warranty period. Otherwise it was just provided as a costly replacement harness, when it went wrong.

Ahh OK was just wondering if the fuel rail pressure sensor harness came under a recall was hoping I could of got It for free then Ha, Ha not my luck.

I know the breather mod is a little naughty on my TD5 but nobody has ever pulled her up before about it, I always take it to my main dealer for Mot too. Will keep it our little Secret hey!!

Maybe will leave the freelander TD4 in place I think. Well for now!

Just use the cotton real filter instead of the cyclonic one.

If I remember when I removed the old filter the plastic piece which secures the filter in position broke it was so brittle but didn't matter due to the cyclone mod I fitted.
Will have to get a new lid I think from a breakers or landrover.
Once I clean out the intercooler will see how she goes if there is more oil then I would like will put the original filter in place again I think.

If you don't mind extra plumbing under the bonnet, you could always pass the crankcase vent through an oil catch tank, before it connects to the turbo intake.

When I was in my Toyota, I watched a lot of videos from a diesel mechanic who specialised in Toyota diesels. This fella really disliked catch cans as they unintentionally robbed the engine of some extra lubrication for the intake valves they got from the blow-by of the PCV valves on the D4D engines. This was fed in to the air intake after the MAF but before the turbo on those engines. I don't know if it would affect the TD4 engine in the same way, but it is worth bearing in mind. I had put the cyclone mod on mine before I read about its own unintended consequences, which are the reason I believe Nodge doesn't like that mod. If I recall, the main thing is extra oil blow-by compared to the cotton reel filter. At least my filter clip is available to change back to the original type next time I do a filter change service.

You don't need or really want too much oil in the intake system. It isn't needed to lubricate the intake valves, as valves are designed to work without lubrication.

Oil in the intake can and does upset the fuel metering, which is undesirable.

Oil in the intake air also soots up the intake manifold, if the MAF is functioning.

Excessive oil in the intake also soots up the exhaust system, clogging the turbo exhaust turbine and the cat. It's not uncommon for a cat to block solid, all of which is caused by excessive oil in the intake air.

So a catch tank is definitely the best cure for this issue. I use the cotton real filter, simply because it's effective at keeping too much oil out the intake, without the complication of a catch tank.

Well I am seriously doubting this crankcase breather mod I have done now.

Wish I just put the new filter which I had got for it anyway. Oh well not to worry will purchase the filter securing clip etc from somewhere ebay etc.

I am going to run her with this cyclone hosing mod in and check all the intake after for a test, then if its oily will put the old filter set up back on then do a test with that and see the results.

I agree no oil should be in the air intake it just gunks up everything.

Hi Guys.

Good morning. Well I got the front bumper off that was fun!
Haven't got the intercooler off yet will do that tomorrow. Am in the process of cleaning and changing out rusty bolts, screw, nuts etc for stainless too of course.

I will be cleaning and wax oiling all behind here.
The man who I bought her off did say he hit a deer and the bumper has a little damage on the lower grill which I will easily repair but it looks like it's also slightly bowed the air con rad which I guess was caused by the bumper hitting into it from the deer but it still all works so will leave it for now.
I am doing a mod on the webasto diesel heater also so I can switch it on manually from inside without out the engine running. Just needs a 12v supply to the bigger plug pin 3 green/grey wire. Nice easy job to do.

So I did find some rust I'm afraid, behind the bumper is the front cross member which is holed but I guess it was rotting from the inside out and when he hit the deer bless its soul it must of made the hole as it was weak anyway.
So check this part behind the front bumper guys must be a new rot place for freelanders rotting from the inside out.

Once I clean the intercooler out I will be able to run her and and test this check engine light and map sensor too, sorry if I'm going a little off topic.

Will add pictures below as this is the second time I'm writing this out.

Just want to say with my OCD both my disco's will be cleaned shortly they haven't been out all winter so get dusty even in the garage!! rather them be dusty and dry with damp in them through winter.

If your car is anything like mine, you should be fine with the new cyclone filter upgrade. A new cotton filter is also OK, but you have to remember to change them frequently. Mine was clogged originally and then pressure in the crankcase seemed to push oil into the inlet/turbo/intercooler etc. You’ve probably seen this, but this was my long story of fixing a smokey TD4:

Yes watched many of your videos on YouTube they are brilliant. Yep watched this one too. Cheers for the reply though. Yea I'm hoping the intercooler is just full of old oil and rubbish. Will flush it out with petrol once I remove it.

This little freelander is a little project its getting there. Want her as my little daily drive but want her right first.
