Hello, i've a fl2 which is just due i'ts 2nd service...WHY is it so expensive...local pendle lancs dealer has quoted me £471 inclusive..

So while looking on the net i've found a site MAINDEALERDISCOUNT.COM who offer same service with a main dealer One of the dealers was STRATSTONE BURY for a price of £307.70 also inclusive..although don't offer collection or a loan vehicle..

I phoned stratstone who say they do business with this site and also said that after booking print off the deal documents to bring in as proof.
And they agreed on the price.

That is the best deal i've found so far.....
Has anyone used this site before..'coz i'd like to know if there are any problems ??

thanks derryk

Hello, there is NO CHEAP DEALER SERVICING,i used to have my hippo done at the main stealers until they tried to charge me £130 +vat for a track rod end!!,and after the last service i checked the car over to see what parts i had been charged for and the only one that i could see changed was the pollen filter. They have been on the phone over the past month asking if i wanted my car serviced and mot' with them-my answer was that i would not ask them to repair a broken pram.I would find a local independant that is recommended and stick with them,if they give poor service go somewhere else--its your money at the end of the day.You could also use a decent mobile mechanic as i do and he charges far less than the stealers.Hope you find somebody in your area.---Dave

Hi derryk, if you want a good job with a indi then for my money i would go to C & A at colne. They are a good set of lads and will do a good job for a fair price. As the use genuine parts for the service it will not invalidate the warranty.

When yer LR's 3 years old you can become an Allegiance member and get discount servicing, service parts and tyres/eggsoure etc at main dealers.

as long as the garage is a vat registered one you can have you car sevice any where and still be coverd by and warranty
But only if they use factory proceedures and appropriate quality service parts.Just be aware that many ordinary garages have little idea about Land Rover products and the extra stuff that they need. And dont expect to be well received by LR if you try to make a warranty claim for a knackered engine if it clearly has a 50p Chinese oil filter on it.

Thats not the only issues.

If you try and claim an engine under warrenty from Land Rover, they will test the oil to make sure its the exact specification of oil required by the engine.

Its really quite important on FL2 to make sure the correct oils are used.

TBH I reckon that 307 quid to keep a warranty on a 25k car is a bit of a no brainer, did you not take this into account when you parted with your hard earned? you'll be putting remoulds on it next....

Hi Derryk,

Like you I'm interested and intrigued by this company, and would like to know what lies behind this.

I put in my postcode and reg. number and they came up with Stratstone in Newcastle which is 278 miles away and they will do the 60K full service on my FL1 for £153.45 instead of the regular price of £279.00

Stratstone in Stockton, a further 50 miles away will do it for £139.50

I notice however that the Newcastle price only applies for tomorrow Tuesday - after that the price jumps up to £181.35!!

Stockton price is only valid for today!!!

So I conclude that this is possibly car servicing's equivalent of 'bucket shop' airline ticketing.

All of this is academic for me of course as I won't be travelling 556 miles round trip to save £90

I think this is a new concept that may spread to cover all of the UK.

Hopefully we'll get someone who can tell us their experience with them, as you ask - I'll be interested too.

Regards, Singvogel. :)

Hi Derry
I've used www.mandealerdiscount.com at Stratstone Nottingham.
I'm not sure where you got the idea of printing the offer off from.
I booked online and the deal was emailed and texted to me.
They had 50% off when I got mine done and I saved £200 :D
Anyway, I liked the site and got a good deal so I thought I would let you know.
Cheers
Arun

When i 1st found the site i did the postcode/reg number bit and then phoned the nearest to me dealer that it came up with (Stratstone in Bury) to check if the site was real and they actualy did buisness with them.
the woman at Stratstone told me to print off the documents as proof.

But good to know someone has actualy used them without problems
