Chassis shrunk in the rain (by one foot!!)

Seriously, a whole foot is a bit much.
You would need to douse the whole chassis in loads liquid nitrogen to excesses of -150°C, and even then it would get brittle and develop cracks and wouldn't shrink by a whole foot. There has got to be another reason why.

Yes, it must have shrunk so just buy a lightweight and transfer the bits, should fit.

Picked new chassis up today and it rested on top of the trailer at the bulk head mounts overlapping by about a foot.
Got home after an hour and a half in the rain, turned chassis over and now it fitted inside the trailer
can metal shrink that much in the rain?

did you hit the brakes hard on your journey?
it may have just slipped forward and bent your trailer a bit.
or maybe you should've loaded the trailer with the chassis upside down in the first place

Its an optical illusion, the chassis in the first pic is about a foot above the trailer sides so looks wider than the trailer, when turned over it looks the same size as trailer...simples
