Hi all, I am a bit new to the world of Landy so really appreciate some advice from the folks who been there tried it and done it.
Got my dream defender at last after a few years looking but not really getting round doing it. Already got a long list of things to do so have started on more trivial and cosmetic jobs. The chassis is in good shape, a bit of minor surface rust here and then and is not treated with anything yet. To start the process I got my power washer which is quite powerful and spend last weekend for a solid three hours to wash the underneath and putting the nozzle to every single hole on the chassis and no surprise that got a few shovels of sand and mud out of the box sections until the water was draining clear. The next task is treating it. I am not a big fan of wax oil as have used it on previous cars in the past and don't think is the very best I can do for my Landy so already have bought a few one litre cans of the Schutz underbody protection and the Schutz spray gun which fits my compressor however reading though some of articles here looks like that the Schutz is more of an impact treatment for outside of the chassis rather than rust proofing so I think that I really need to apply Dinitrol first inside and outside the chassis. My question is what next? Do I use the Schutz straight on top of the Schutz treatment after it has dried or do I apply hammerite paint on the outside? What about the next treatment for the inside of the chassis? Really appreciate any advice. Cheers.
