Bit of Controversy now with these two, asked a couple of local landy blokes today and one agrees with Mick 1986 and a couple say it should be the other one,Which one of these should I be using ? One of my downfalls is that I did not dismantle the whole vehicle, They both came with it but not of them were fitted.
Both the same size and holes line up.

Didn't get the round one Mate only them two. Would either do or does it have to be certain one ??Throw a spanner in the works...
Where is the round one?
The one Mick recommended goes in quite easy, the other which seems the most solid of the two, would need the chassis rails widening slightly with bottle jack and chocs to fit.I think 1 of these(smaller one) bolts in easier.
Thanks Mate. Did yours come fitted to Chassis or separate ??I will send you some photos of mine tomorrow. I don’t know if mine, and the one I advised you, is a new design that some are unfamiliar with?
@jamesmartin any advice?

Thanks Mate, What year is yours Im just wondering if the two I have are for different models, mine is 1987 it has the original Gearbox mated to a 300Tdi disco engine, not sure if that makes any difference or not, or if you can just fit Either one.
By the way your Chassis looks spot on Mate.
If yours had the round version, then they probably all do the same job, of the 2 I have the one on the bottom of photo with single hole in the middle seems the better built/ stronger one so I will probably use that one.Mine is a 1992 200tdi, but the chassis is 2018 spec, built 22/11/18. My old gearbox crossmember was the round version.
It has a few marks from fitting the axles and engine, but I can’t complain considering I have only worked on it for around 4-5 hours today. I will go round and touch up the few marks before the body goes on.
It won’t be long before yours is galved and being rebuilt. Are you painting yours?

Really did not think about painting the Galvanised finish but looking at yours Think I might now, so will be asking more advice on, does it need to be a certain type of paint to go on Galv ?
Looks good to me, When I did my axles I used a cheap brush for the front and it did not go on to well, so bought a really good one for the rear and it made a big difference to the finishI used T wash/mordant solution to “prep” the galv first, then around 4-5 coats of red oxide primer, then black metal paint. I didn’t really like it when I first painted it, it looked far to shiney. It’s dulled down a lot since it’s dried. I’m really pleased with how it’s ended up. There are some runs, but I’m happy with it overall.
