Changed the oil and filter yesterday FL2 SD4 HSE (OMG what a pfaff getting to the filter) so today have the Reduced Engine Performance message…. I didn’t take out the section of pipe by the filter, just pushed it out of the way to manoeuvre the filter in/out, so how probable is the message to do with maybe mucking up that pipe?
We are NOT having much luck with our Landrovers at the moment- Defender is off the road waiting for garage slot (3 more weeks)
Thanks

Interestingly the message disappeared after leaving the car for a couple of hours. Started up, no message, drove 8 miles all good, then when accelerating hard up hill there was a sort of 'hesitation' and the message reappeared and stayed for the rest of the journey (8 miles).
Yes we will run a diagnostic as soon as we can get our hands on one

Most likely by pushing the throttle body pipe to intercooler out of the way, you have disturbed the part that fixes to the throttle body, check to see if it's loose also at the bottom end going to intercooler.

This hose had to be changed on mine back in 2020 due to a split you can just about make it out to the left of the name.

Going to have a check today 👍

Had a good look around the pipes - nothing obviously loose.
Just plugged an OBD11 reader in - no codes found…. Also the engine system check is not showing the message anymore.
Don’t you just hate intermittent faults

Is the larger boost hose along the bottom of the rad still secured in place? I've seen it where the securing screw has been left off, which then allows the boost hose to come in contact with a drive belt pulley, resulting in a small split which will open under boost, causing an air leak, and a reduced performance condition.

Here a couple of pictures of the boost hose with the securing band from above and below (bumper removed), but if this band isn't fitted correctly, a hole will be made in the boost hose from contact with the belt pulley

Have a read of this below, when you checked the hose did you remove it.

If not remove and check, did mine today to take the photos, and it needed tightening because it was weeping, will check it again tomorrow after it's Sunday run before check all fluids and tyres lights etc.

You can also remove the map sensor and see if it is clogged up, clean with contact cleaner only.

No didn’t remove any pipes - just felt around the junction to see if obviously loose.
Will recheck and give the MAP sensor a clean.
Thanks everyone - hopefully will get this issue sorted 👍

Finally managed to change the hose after delays caused by Royal Mail deciding that the part I ordered should go to Leeds Mailing Centre for local delivery - bit of a long shot given I'm in West Cornwall......
Anyhoo part arrived late Thursday afternoon so the hose replacement was 1st thing on the list this morning. We elected to take the bottom end of the rigid pipe off the bottom flexible hose and then the split hose off the throttle body and remove that as a unit.
This meant we had a bit more leverage for working the hose off and putting the replacement back on.
Was prepared for it being a bit 'challenging' to get the hose/pipe apart but actually it went ok. Used a smidge of lubricant when reassembling, also marked the line up of the new hose with the rigid pipe with a white marker so we could get the orientation correct before refitting in the engine bay.
Took the FL to Falmouth and back - with a bit of an acceleration trial up the hill by Edgcumbe to put the hose assembly under pressure - and all good 👍😀
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I'm a bit late to the party, as it seems you've solved the issue.
For future reference, MAP-MAF correlation issues are always due to boost being lost. Basically the MAP isn't seeing the intake pressure is should, compared to the amount of air volume the MAF is measuring.

Glad it's sorted.

Yup we bought one after it became very apparent that the filter change was 'awkward' 🤣 given most of the YouTube vids recommended one!
