Hi all, following on from my first thread about how do you get the bloody clarion rad/cas out. I now have FABULOUS DAB radio from my Blaupunkt woodstock dab 54 by buying a lead, off the shelf from Peter Doidge, [email protected], or 01493 441627. It cost £43+p&p but is a genuine plug and play, with all speakers working, including the sub, in the crystal clear sound you'd expect from Harmon Kardon. I'd say it's even better than the original set up. The service is good too-ordered wed, here thurs what more can you ask! I'm not in any way affiliated, just a really happy customer, although he is a nice bloke to talk to and will talk happily about your rangie's audio needs.:blabla:

That's brilliant news, as these HK systems are a pain to work around without a lot of rewiring!!

FWIW, I sent my original Clarion headunit to the Clarion Service Centre in Wiltshire, they serviced it, replaced all the LED's, removed the CODE and fitted a phono lead to the back to plug my iPod into. Keeps the HK sound system in my soft dash Classic, keeps the 'factory' look with the original stereo, perfect. Total cost: £20.

Can you hook up aftermarket headunits to work with the steering wheel controls in the P38?

Mine was jap-spec, only picked up radio 2 and crackled like f*** on am. A patch lead for the steering wheel controls should be the easy bit of a hifi change!

So can you get the steering wheel controls to work with aftermarket units? I can't see any patch leads to do this for sale anywhere....

Any photos of that setup?

Hi Mike - How did you go about arranging that? Did you just call them and ask?...

Hi 996turbo-I've managed to get pics onto my profile as an album, but I've haven't manged to get them this far yet( i'm crap with computers). Mikev8se-the plastic side fillers on the radio were standard on mine so I've still got the factory look, just a bit newer and when I can be arsed I'll even change the display colour to suit the rest of the dash-that h/u has 96 colours of display!

My cruise doesn't work because there's no vacuum pipes on it. I've never used steering wheel controls on any of the cars I've had with them, I just don't see the need, since the radio is always within reach (unless you've a really old Mini). My car's steering wheel is so worn I don't know which button is for what anyway!
