Centre Propshaft Mount(s)

Hello,

Just looking for some advice, I've been told my centre propshaft mount is worn and I do have a rubbing noise under the car, especially at slow speeds. My question is, should I be buying a pair of these as I've noticed a lot of central propshaft mounts are sold in pairs and secondly could anyone reccomend me a set as there's quite a few on eBay but I should imagine of varying quality.

I'm sure the advice is to buy them in pairs - if 1's gone, the other is sure to be on its way as well, so might as well do them both at the same time. I know that cheap aftermarket ones have a good chance of failing in a couple of months = so its worth buying decent ones. I can't recall which are the best makes. you can't go wrong with 'Genuine Land Rover' - but they will probably cost an arm and a leg and just be another make anyway. I think the OEM is GKN - however, GKN just get them in from another maker and I'm not sure who they are - hopefully someone will fill the blanks left by my forgetful brain.

Before doing the bearings it is a good time to check the VCU - if its needing replacement, once again its a job to do with the bearings and the go-to supplier for a reconditioned on is Bell Engineering...

Go OE only, so that means GKN. Genuine GKN normally have GKN moulded into the rubber, and the bearings have red seals marked FAG.
Don't bother buying cheap as they last no time at all.
GKN bearings normally cost about £60ea, anything priced much less is unlikely to be GKN.

I would agree with what the others have said regarding buying quality bearings. Yer done the right thing by asking.

as above, get the "good ones" or you'll be replacing them in just under a year as I am with last ones I got
