HELP !!!!!!

I have a F/L 2 TD4 S on a 57 plate. My problem is the centre console, radio and key module get very hot when heater dial is pointing to your feet.
I suspect rightly or wrongly that a heater hose has come adrift, it gets so hot the radio ceases to function until it has cooled down. If my supposition is correct is it a big job for a Landy specialist to remove dash ( if necessary) and re-connect hose, or could it be a more expensive problem !
I hope someone can give me some constructive advice.

Thanks,

Saluki.

Errm... how about you try asking a Land Rover Dealership / specialist how much they would charge you to fix the problem instead of asking the forum to guess what the cost would be to you?

Taking a dash out is probably a 2 hour job at a bit of a guess from experience of these things. I doubt they would need to fully remove it to replace a hose, so, guess at 2 hours for the whole job. So, hmm, LR probably charge £120 an hour + a small fortune for a hose, i'd guess at £300 for the job.
Or... try going into a LR dealership when it's quite busy and really kick off about the poor quality, extraordinally high prices to fix a manufacturers failure to build a car properly, etc. and they'll probably do it for free just to shut you up :D

Have you looked at removing the centre console to see if the heater ducting is there ? ...

You will need to slide the top plate forward from above the radio, this will expose two screws. there are then two screws, one either side of the dash beside the gear lever, under the hand-brake is a cover that has two screws that need removing.
The centre console storage box needs the 4 screws removing, under here is a further 2 screws that need to be removed, after this the centre console can be moved.
In turn you can then remove the radio facia.
Remember to undo the 3 plugs either side and the cigarette lighter.
You will then see the 4 screws that hold the radio...

have you tried driving through water?

This should make the doors fall off which in turn should give enough air flow to keep the centre console cool enough whilst your trying to warm ya tootsies up :D:p

:D Thank you Bump, Optimus and Dippypud for your advice I really appreciate it.
I am on a few other forums and you always get the odd Dummy you just have to ignore them

No this is this whole forum! Fl2 should have some kind of warranty so get them to fix or crack out tools and try yourself! But owning a gaylander you will have the **** taken alot. If you don't like that buy a real landrover

oh... i got a thanks then got it edited out and removed :(

I even posted something helpful... for once.

Btw, i have a F2 (brand new one) at present (hire car) and noticed it does get quite warm around the central console...
