I know you have the manual I was talking in general

A lot new posters ask the same q's over and over again.
I'll help if I know the answer if not I will research it and point em int right direction
When I first got mine I thought the rear lock was U S, know better now though :)

Thank you all for your advice. I tried the two click/turn thingy and the rear window drop and they all work perfectly. I also downloaded and printed off the owners handbook, so (hopefully) no more 'doodle' questions from me.
Seriously though thanks so much, this is just what an owners forum should be like!
NOW........down anyone have a cheap luggage space cover for a 1999 mk1 three door they want to sell me?
Yes I have tried fleebay but they are either too much money or (probably) fir the five door only...........the three and five door covers are definitely different aren't they..............

I've just bought one of these from Amazon.co.uk.

20 pounds and a nice bit of kit.

Car 4x4 Boot liner Boot cover

The rear roller luggage space cover was fitted as standard on 5 door S models and above and was an option accessory on the E models.

As far as I know the 3 door models do not have the rectangular recessed fittings necessary behind the rear seats. So it wont fit even.

im still looking for one for my 3 door but can only find the ridgid one and 118 is a bit too much for me at the moment. im thinking of going down the home made route.

Hmmmmmmm.

So there isn't one for the 3 door..........curious!

Has anyone tried a five door cover in a three door car to see if it works or can be adapted?

As far as I know, the softback/hardback 3 doors were supplied with a rigid parcel shelf because the retractable ones would have flapped around and been insecure when driving with the roof removed.

If you can get pictures of the 5 door fittings you will be able to compare them to what you have and maybe have a go at adapting one to fit.

Hope that makes sense

Thanks, that clears things up. Clearly I'm not paying Land Rover prices for one of those!

Anyone got a used one for sale??!

yup will do. im thinking of going the mdf route as i used to fit them in a lot of hatchbacks for speaker upgrades and mdf doesnt flex or vibrate. think i will have to get some cardboard in there and make up a template first then cut the mdf and drop it in then just cover with material. will give it a go and take pics along the way.

Brilliant! I look forward to it.

Thinking about it though, you might find it easier to cut and and cover two pieces of mdf at the same time...........what do you think?
