Hi everyone, I’m new here and was wondering if I could please get some help.

I have a freelander2 2006.

This evening I tried to unlock the car but nothing seemed to work, I opened the drivers door and the alarm went off so I unlocked the car from the dash. The wing mirrors stayed closed until I pressed the left and right mirror buttons at the same time which then opened them. I do have a spare fob which I have tried but this doesn’t work but could be because it is flat so I will put it in the doc tomorrow to see if this works after my drive to work. Is there anything else obvious to look at if this doesn’t do the trick.

Many thanks in advance.

How did you open the drivers door if the car didn’t unlock?
Hi td4van, thanks for your message. I tried the Passenger side door but it was locked I then tried the back left passenger door and that was also locked but when I tried the drivers door it opened and alarm went off, that’s when I jumped in and unlocked car on the dash.

That doesn’t make sense. Emergency lock is located on passenger side front door under a little cover at the end of the handle with key in the end of the remote for future reference.

I would check status of battery (volts and health) on the car and try charging up the spare key and see what happens - when trialling it’s worth leaving a window open so you can always get in easier

Sounds like you have a faulty drivers door lock too.
I have heard of people charging key fobs with toothbrush chargers but I have never tried it (I will perhaps do a video on it sometime).
Something to keep in mind is the manual lock is in the front passenger door so don’t park close up to the near side. The key is in the key fob.
