Central Locking REPAIR, not replacement

After a bit of forum hunting and googling, it seems the issue with my naff central locking, is most likely due to worn out/tired motors.

All post seem to be filled with people content with spending £65+VAT on each unit, and just swapping them out - with only a single brief mention of repairing using aftermarket solenoids.

So, unless one already exists, and I'm just being blind - would people like a walkthrough of how to adapt aftermarket solenoids in place of a faulty unit? Mine are due to turn up next week

yeah, same units apparently - with a deadlock motor too! I'll be removing that part of mine for safe measure

Walkthrough would be good for me. Mine has the usual "I will lock, but i wont unlock" problem on the drivers side. I can hear the solenoid working as well both ways. Really have to get off my ass and fix it. So any help would be great

only one that works on mine, is the boot! :lol:

Hoping to mount the generic solenoids to the locks themselves, remove the deadlock mechanism, along with the wiring to both standard motors, and make it as simple as possible to replicate

Sounds good to me..especially the simple as possible bit. My bwain cell really does do as simple as possible with fiddly things

Wouldnt it be great to use Boeing B52 bomb door lock pin solenoids?...every time you pressed the unlock button you could think to yourself "Charlie is really going to get it now!"

bugga to get em off E-bay i suppose.
