Central Locking bizarre behaviour

Hi,

Looking for some help and advice, My Freelander 2 central locking started playing up, at first I thought it was the Key as it took a number of presses to lock or unlock the car.
Having just returned from offshore, it would appear that now after a number of presses the car opens, but the boot has now joined the action and opened as well
Obviously the car warns you with the horn when you try to relock the vehicle that the boot is open........With the dealer quoting £175 for a new programmed key, which I am not sure is the problem, I am worried this is gonna get expensive.....
Any help appreciated

Could be the battery in the fob, and it can be changed, but not by LR!!!
You can find links on how to do it, I had similar problems, new batt solved it.

had strange random issues with mine too, thought I'd have a go before I went to the dealers, had nothing to lose. Found the battery a little loose, so put a folded up piece of paper then glued the case back together, been going strong for 2 years now.
