As above lads can you still get them or is it a visit to the scrap yard ? the only ones i seem to be able to find are the kits that allows you to retro fit one in the boot , i want to fit one in the center console .Are there any other aux sockets that i can fit in there with out me having to butcher the wires

I have a couple on ebay at the moment with the ashtray bit too. PM me if you're interested @tlo

Thanks lads it might be a USB socket I thought it was a aux socket and yes kernowsvenski that's the bit

My SE was missing the rear power socket and ashtray. However the blanking plate has more than enough room for half a dozen universal power sockets. So looking on EBay, you can get loads of different types, all for fitting into a simple hole on a flat panel. I have 2 power sockets and 2 2.4A USBs in mine, all for a fraction of the LR cost of a single socket and a pointless(don't smoke) ashtray.

Like this but not limited to this. ;)

I installed an auxiliary socket in the back of the centre console in my 56 plate Freelander 1. Hardest job was cutting the hole as I did not have a cutter that small. Works a treat. Took 30 minutes tops.

If you take out the four screws under the lid on the centre console you pull out the plastic box and that exposes the handbrake cables but fixed to one side of the console housing you will see a black/purple cable with black connections that take a male connector. The plastic panel at the back of the console and facing the rear seats can be knocked out and a hole drilled for the socket. That is what I have used.

Not got the best eBay rating in the world: someone wrote "Cheap and Nasty". Is that fair? Or someone's expectations too high? ;)

If it looks like the picture, then the quality is OK. It's a £3 power socket ffs, what do some people expect.
The two I've fitted were identical to the one I've linked, although I couldn't find the exact seller I used. There can't be many manufacturers of these items, so I would think the quality is much of a muchness.

Local scrap yard ? as i have said in a previous post the actual aux socket part of mine came from a nissan almera

I hoped there would be wiring for an aux socket in the side panel at the rear. I removed it and found no cable. I then ran a 12 v supply to the socket and cut a hole in the side pabel and now have two 12 v aux sockets. I have tried a aux/usb from eBay but it burnt out!!
