Can you take the cdl from another transfer box and transplant it into my own box that doesn`t have the internals ? Reason I ask is there is a transfer box out of a defender at work, but I'm not sure wether its the same as my R380 box. it has 1.222 ratio on the side and I can`t see any serial no. It also has KRO and some other lettering above the ratio sticker. It has the CDL spigot sticking out the top though so wondered if I could retrofit it to mine ?

if yours doesnt have cdl and the spigot would need a front housing too and re-shim the diff

Would the defender transfer box housing work ? I`m not sure if its an R380 box that was on the defender, but mine doesnt have the cdl guts as the box starts with the 69D serial no. & the spigot along with the 3 bolt housing is`nt present on mine. I can put up a pic later if it helps identification of the defender box but I know it was taken off as there was a problem with it so I would need to rebuild anything in the front housing then. Is there a guide to reb shimming the diff for the conversion ?

On Ashcroft’s website there is a page explaining how to swop the front output housing to create a locking centre diff. Also your gonna need diff lock linkage and lever.

Think I`ll try for one on ebay, and cheer`s for the heads up i`ll look at Ashcrofts website.
