CB now fitted , mounted on roof console as you can see , routed cables across headlining and down behind windscreen pillar .. works great and is well out of the way ;-)

That looks like a smart job. I've been thinking of a cb for myself, as I have no experience of these at all would anybody like to recommend one please.

sorry kev , I haven't got a clue which is best , I just know this one works and the range is quite good so should be ok for laning ;-)
 
If it's a regular 40/80 channel FM CB then there really won't be much difference in performance between them these days but the Intek M100 is pretty compact and offers multiband options if you decide to go abroad. All should be limited to 4W output but if you want to increase the range (illegally) then a small amplifier will boost it, RM do some cheap good quality 'burners'. As for aerials, the longer the better, if length isn't a problem then get a Sirio Megawatt 4000PL, TBH range will probably be limited by interference from the fuel injectors anyway.
