Carrying 6 Peeps in a 90 county

Hi guys

I am going to the billing landy show in july in my 1988 90 county 2.5td ( 200tdi ) and its a 6 seater as i have a cubby box in the front so 4 peeps in the back sat on side facing rear seats and one passanger up front and me driving all adults and just want to know as for the rear passanger's would they be fairly comftable sat in the back for the roughly 150 mile trip to billing.

i know we would have to be carefull on what we buy for the drive home later as reguards floor space but what do you think :)
 
It's not good in the back of those, you sit very upright and can't stretch your legs out if there's someone sitting opposite. Wouldn't fancy it myself..
 
Surprised really as i have done it in a s111 swb before inc towing a caravan aswell and thought a 90 would be better if anything as its on coils, i only ask as son thinks it won't but not sure :confused:
 
I drove from Ayrshire to France with 2 adults and a teenager in the back of my 90 on bench seats with lap belts.Apart from the fact that the teenager had some of the worst flatulence I've ever had the misfortune to experience we managed fine. I did spend some time in the back when my better half was driving.
 
I used to cart everyone from 6th form tp town at lunch in the back on my 90, less than a mile and was still cramped heavy and uncomfotable. Record was 9 people though :D

I had an '83 station wagon, 88" like yours. Identical configuration. I used to cart kids around all the time to and from rugby matches, with kit, the lot. Great fun. Take your time, lots of breaks so people can swap around. Go for it. You'll want to turn up in the Landy won't you?
 
Cheer's guys yeah I think it will be ok as thinking about it its not much different than having 5 peeps in a 5 seater car so will have to see how it goes :)
 
I would just like to add, please make sure you are not in a hurry - especially if the road is uneven, take it easy and anticipate corners and coming to a stop.

Is there a headlining that prevents them banging their heads on the metal edge above the side window, as there are sideways forces that make you bob about. And don't be surprised if they bang heads with their opposite number.

Also do not get into an emergency stop situation as everyone will slide sideways (forwards really) with passenger 5 and 6 at the back crushing passengers 3 and 4 against the internal bulkhead. Ideally passengers 5 and 6 need grab handle near the rear door to reduce this.

I remember bombong across a field on my mates farm and all I could see in the rear mirror was my mate hitting floor, roof, floor, roof :D :D
 
In my view the load area seats are fine for occasional use on shorter journeys, but wouldn't be much fun with 4 in the back for longer distances. Back before it was deemed unsafe to be sat sideways (unless you're on a bus which apparently is fine) they'd be good for carting kids about in the back. Adults are a bit squashed and you lose essentially all luggage space. 1 or 2 in the back is a bit easier as there's more room to spread out.

Haha yes there is a roof lining with panels round the sharp bits and there are two grab handles at the back but in the rear of the roof next to each of the rear roof vents and all seats have seat belts aswell :)
 
I've done a couple of trips with 6 people, many of them 6' + . it was about a 60 mile trip. Wasn't the best, but I didn't have any complaints other than when we went over a bump their heads smashed against the roof :) - they seemed to think it was fun :der:

Had a roof rack on too. but not a lot on it - seemed ok.

were they students or adults
 
I have the same set up, with nearly new side facing independent seats for four. My daughter and her mates (12/13 year olds) constantly ask if I can take them to this or that as I can accommodate their whole little group - 5 of them. Its great for them, other than arguing who sits in the front :) but even at that age they do look a little "close" at the legs. I suppose it depends how well the adults get on!!! Let me know how it goes for my future reference!
