My Hood needs replacing. There appear to be many different suppliers available out there from cheap eBay only suppliers through to exmoor trim.

At the moment I am leaning towards the exmoor trim version due to their reputation but I noticed that all wheel trim also have them. Does any one have any experience with either of these makes of hood. Which one would people recommend?

I have an exmoor trim hood which i bought new and it doesnt live up to the reputaion the company has (poor fit and messy stiching)

After i had bought mine i was advised to get one from undercover covers next time ,iirc they are sold through a third party ww spares

I had an Exmoor which I bought in nearly new condition. It was about two inches too short (on an 88"), which why it was being sold. Previous owner should have sent it back but didn't. I managed to stretch it a fair bit, but not enough really. The rest of it was pretty good. I'd certainly buy new from them because they've got the most to lose if they made a mistake on it and didn't rectify it.

@chrisstdt - did you try to get them to put it right?

@dag019 ,

I like allwheel trim, I have their bikini hood for my 90 it is nicely made.
If you are just going to swap out an old one for a new one. They are only in Witney, so you could always drive over there and buy it direct.

Cheers

currently the undercover covers website appears to be blank and ww spares only have the hoodstick sets for a series III but they have hoods for other models so I will give them a call later to see if they have any.

With two negative reviews for exmoor it might not be them as I would have thought anywhere other than ebay should have the ability to return and complain if the hood has a poor fit.

@dag019

In 10 days time it is 4x4 spares day at Newbury.

If I was you I would go there and see what is available, maybe a supplier or two will be there,(altho not sure on that)

Cheers

I am going to newbury so will see what is there. But I still need a supplier that will have a good fit and will last well as I dont want to buy another one for a long time!

Could you possible find out where he got it from I am struggling to find anywhere supplying them currently

How far are you from Birmingham ? Just contact Undercover Covers and arrange to drop off your Land Rover there . They will make you one quite happily . You probably don't even need to drop it off , as they have more than likely got the measurements on file .They are used to making all sorts of things out of canvas .

This is them finishing off my bespoke 3/4 tilt for my Series One 107" last year . The chap in the white shirt is Steve , the main man .

I wouldn't bother with Tom Pickford at Wwspares , in this instance , as he is mainly a Series One supplier .

Igot mine from All Wheel Trim about five years ago and really pleased with it....as with any canvas hood you need to get in tied in place and let it get wet and dry naturally a few times for it to "Shrink to fit" (need to keep tied at sides and rear so that it doesn't end up short - ignore the crinkle behind the driver's door in the photo below, that's just me pulling the internal tie strap a bit too tight)
