Can't get the steering wheel off

The perfect way to break your nose and knock your front teeth out! Always leave the nut loose on the end of the shaft. You have been warned. When you refit the wheel use a smear of copper grease and dont crank the nut too tight.

The steering wheel really isn't that difficult to get off and if its coming off with enough force to smack you in the face then you're doing it wrong

Int there a torque setting for the nut ?
Yes but I've never had one come loose yet in over 40 years. Just tight enough to pull the wheel onto the splines. Makes getting the wheel off later a doddle. Besides if the wheel wont come off with all that banging and pulling then the torque of the lock nut is irrelevant. Even if the nut and wheel were to come loose you would feel it long before the nut completely undid itself and the wheel came off the shaft. As in all things you do what you are comfortable with.

The OP is talking about a seized wheel thats probably never been removed from new. Leaving the nut loose on the end of the shaft costs nothing and saves pain later. Plenty of peeps have found out the hard way. I know which way I prefer.
