Cant delete phone numbers

Afternoon all, Just recently bought a 56 plate, My problem is, when i try to delete individual phone numbers, it doesn't work, some of them aren't really numbers but letters with * ~ attached, have tried to delete car phone book, that doesn't seem to work either. also when i import my contacts to car, no names are downloaded , any ideas?
