Can you remove individual crossbars from an LR Expedition Roof Rack?

Hi folks!

Just bought a new Defender with Land Rover's official "Expedition Roof Rack" (VPLER0181) on top, bought a cargo box as well and.. the box that fits on to "any" roof bars doesn't really like any more than two bars as the areas with the connection are indented so the rest sits on "top" of the rack and prevents installation.

If I can remove three of the crossbars from the rack, happy days, but the whole thing feels so integrated with no obvious screws that I'm a bit stuck as to how to approach it. I'm going to take it up Famous Four and ask them but on the off chance anyone here has such a rack (which I don't think is specific to the Defender, hence posting in this forum) I thought I'd see if anyone has any bright ideas.

If all else fails I'll bungee cord the suitcases directly to the rack and forget the box(!) :D

I suspect there are fixings under those strips, but rather than mess about with the rack either move the box fixings to where there are no indents (new holes in box) or put some split hose over the rails where the fixings are to lift the box enough to sit on the other bars.

A lot of the rails like that you remove the rubber strip and t nuts go in to the slot and turn to bolt things down then you cut the rubber to fit back as best you can.
