Hi Guys, My 1989 (R reg) Discovery has been sat for a while and the battery is as flat as a fluke. I bought a new battery but wonder what will happen about the alarm and imobiliser etc. I don't have the 'key code' to re-set it and don't know what to do next. Would I be able to connect the new battery using jump leads while I change them over or will the alarm etc., still act up.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks all.
Denis.

just take it out and drop the new one in. the alarms aren't that sophisticated :D if'n its flat as a fart with no juice in, it wont make owt difference anyway.

I assume you meant 1998 R reg, which would make it 300tdi, as opposed to 1989 which would make it 200tdi and unlikely to have an immobiliser.

My wagon is too old for the whole faffing immobiliser malarky, but I've removed/swapped/taken out to recharge and disconnected batteries on numerous 300tdi discos for welding and such and never had an issue with the immobiliser after joining it all back up.

Many thanks Jay reKx you are a star - will do tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Thanks Guys, the beast is back !. Have done 4 return trips to Italy in the last 12 months and she never missed a beat - God I love this car !!. The dream is to own a Range rover ( not the present ugly runt !) but in the meantime I am happy with my 'Disco'. Always had Landies - 2a, 3 and defenders but this girl is my favourite.
Thanks for you help.
