Can you apply shultz Dinatrol with a brush?

I don't have a shultz gun anymore and I've only got access to a very small compressor. I have about 6-7 shultz gun cans of Dinatrol and could do with using it. Has anyone successfully applied it by brush from the shultz containers? Need to do the bottom on my Transit and bought FAR too much for the Landy!

A friend of mine does but he's the same person who has helped me out about 4 times recently with big jobs and still hasn't given me chance to help him so was trying to avoid it in case it looks like I'm taking the **** when I'm not. I was just hoping I could paint the stuff on...... Might just go and buy a shultz gun, I do have a compressor but it's a tiny thing from a discount store I bought for blowing up tyres, blow gun etc. I got rid of my proper compressor a few years ago when I wasn't using it :(

Not sure it does...... Might do.... Might have to paint a few seconds, pause and repeat. Just need to locate a schultz gun, will check machine mart and screwfix first.

if it sprays on it will brush on,if necessary you could thin it with petrol

Thanks. Just looking for a shultz gun locally. I have been trying to paint Tetraseal onto the underside of the van and it's so thick and sticky it's hurting my wrists and fingers trying to get it into all the spaces (arthritis and fibromyalgia). If I could find the right thing to thin that down with I could keep the decent stuff for my Landy and just finish off this massive Tetraseal can I have! You said petrol for the Dinatrol...... would that work with Tetraseal?

petrol definitely works with tetraseal as it will with any wax or tarry substances and will dry off

i dont measure just add till its thin enough but id start with 3 of seal and 1 of petrol stir well then add more if you think it needs it
thinners works i guess white spirit would to but ive not tried that

easiest was is use a small camping stove with a saucepan full of water and keep the tin in it on the heat when your not using it. keep it nice a warm
 
Yes, I regularly use a brush. Obviously, for doing the whole thing it is worth getting the compressor out, but for a little touch up here and there I brush the thick stuff on. The thin runny variety goes in one of those little spray bottles with a trigger. This sort of technique is good for when I'm working on the Land Rover and expose new bits of metal that don't usually see the light of day. The bits at the bottom of the footwells that the floor panels rest on, the parts of the chassis that are usually covered up because components bolt on but water can get in the crack and so on. Little touch of Dinitrol and you know it's going to be safe for a few years.
