No, it's a minority of the long term regulars on here that create the problems. It is people like you that think you can talk to people however you like and when you get an equal measure back you go running to the mods. The fact that you have more contacts than some has the effect of making you look to be in the right in the mods eyes and that is what you play on.
Each and every one of the same old faces that join a thread for a virtual punch up are probably the worst offenders on here but seem to think you have some given right to do exactly as you please because you play up to the 'safety in numbers' principle.
Don't go into this half hearted with a poxy sin bin suggestion you patronising fool, get me the full ban instead. The one thing you need to realise is that your **** smells the same as mine.
I put up with your crap so be man enough to put up with what comes back.
The only time there is conflict involving me is when you or one of your cronies comes looking for me, not the other way around.
I'll banter with anyone, I'll assist anyone wherever possible, I'll debate whenever I feel inclined, I won't sit back like a sponge absorbing insults to make you feel high and mighty. With me you get back equal to what you give. It looks like you can't handle me too easily, ain't that just a spanner in your works!
The very fact that you feel you have a given right to not only suggest a sin bin but to actually nominate the individuals to be put there says much about you. You may well influence a ban on me but I certainly won't succumb to your dictatorship or your supposed heirarchy stance by joining your sheep mentality regime of followers.
Get over yourself and stop crying like a little girlie.

As another thought you already have a warning on the anything goes section so i suppose if the topic that is being discussed is going wayward or it should be moved there by choice or the one that is mahatma... as well as the fact that most of the girls n guys on here are fairly self regulating......................i wish my fingers worked !!!!!!
If the reference to "mahatma" is to me - I have no more say in the running of this forum than you do. I will accept the due to my longevity (on the forum) a lot of peeps have seen the way that I act - and realise that there is no personal animosity in my posts - unlike others. It is also true that several peeps have actually met me and know me for who I am, not for some false "Forum persona".
This forum has always been self regulating (apart from one brief interlude). If anyone, and yes, i DO mean anyone, steps out of line, they are soon put straight, abeit usually by PM from several of the "establishment".
Yes - there is a hierarchy on this forum, as on most forums, but, Mods excluded, that is by accepted practice. I for one, have been chastised in the past, albeit unfairly (I am never wrong
) and I do take notice of what others say. I have a lot of respect for some of the other long timers, Trewy, Willo, Ming, NI, etc. It is never a good idea to join a forum and tell the other members that they are all dickheads, or that the forum sucks. That is a quick way to get all of the regulars to come out of the woodwork. We are only long term members because we have taken, and yes, given, abuse in equal measures over the years. This is the way this forum has and, apparently, continues to be run. I quote one old Sage - Trewy " If you dont like it - **** off" - it is unlikely that it will change, except if the members wish it to.So then it can be understood that should someone, or in this particular instance me, adopt the same attitude as above then it becomes a stalemate to the extent that it either continues with conflict or we learn to get along with eachother?
The fact that you state there is a heirarchy doesn't bode well surely? People don't own forums unless they/he/she is responsible for setting it up and clearly defining rules of passage. Someone with 2000 posts to their name has no more entitlement to opinion/post than someone with 50 posts.
One of the biggest problems is that long time regs obviously know when other long time regs are up for banter whereas someone who hasn't been around so long may get on their high horse. No one is a mind reader to know how the long term use banter and no one should need to shut up in the corner and see how the big boys play. We're supposed to be adults here, not kindergarden misfits.
I don't go through life telling anybody younger than me that they shouldn't be in the same place as me because I've been living longer, I'm sure you don't either.

I object most strongly to the idea of a Sin Bin for the likes of Dick.com I much prefer to be able to tell him what an Anally retentive Patronising ****er he really is. Why he feels that all the old timers are best buddies is beyond me. I've probably met 5 or 6 "old timers!" at the most. There are some Regulars on here that I wouldn't want to meet. let alone be friends with them.
However along the lines of what Daft said. We have invested a lot of time and effort into helping this forum and it's members by posting advice, having a laugh, supplying parts, and offering a recovery service often all of the above are supplied free of charge. This is probably the only 4x4 forum where a member could post a plea for help, and 8 or 9 vehicles turn up to recover them. Some of them having driven almost 100miles to do so. Like all things that people are involved with on a close personal level, we become attached to the place and even protective of it.
So when ****ers like 2"dick (aka lrd5) turns up spouting ****e. We tend to get the urge to tell the fooker to **** off up his own arse where he crawled from in the 1st place.

we already do, Boomer - The Mods can do a temporary ban - for a day, week etc. The banned can still look at the forum as a guest, but cannot sign in to post. If you remember there was a bit of this a year or two ago.
Like I was the week before last & never did find out what for other than the word "spam" I did click on "contact us" to ask but didn't recieve a reply!!
