Evoque Can it get any worse ?

LR are going more 'up market' the Evoque is pretty much the replacement for the Freelander. The Disco Sport is the one I hate, absolutely hideous and no place for it except being the 'baby Discovery'

Having driven a total of around 140,000 miles in FL2's and having used Evoques on many occasions, I can assure you that the Evoque is no Freelander replacement. It's great as a thinking person's alternative to something dumb like a MINI Countryman, a BMW X1, an X3 or whatever it is that Audi builds but, as a properly practical baby Discovery, as the FL2 was, it's hopeless.

It is the Range Rover part people object to. Call it a Land Rover Evoke and no issues, well fewer anyway. Maybe make a new one: the Urban Rover Evoke.

I like it.
If they make them in the uk it will employ more peeps in the uk. That's got to be a good thing, especially if some of them are exported.

They can not meet the orders. Take 6 months or more to get 1 in the USA. LR just sends what ever to US dealers, So dealers don't stock you many. But you can order 1 and wait and wait

LR sell 26% of vehicles to china. China are happy to take all of them, so think yerself lucky if yer get any LR vehicle new. LR holds out as they have other markets to feed. ;)

There china plant takes care of china. Is a different beast from what is made in UK I heard. Don't think a china 1 can be sold any where else

I'm all for UK manufacturing and export, but you do need to be careful what you apply the badge to, or the brand will suffer.

Just think of all of the tat that the the Rover brand was attached to, from the mid 80's onwards. From the unremarkable Rover 213 to the rediculous Rover 100. Even the unsalable City Rover!! Now the Rover brand is worthless.

Yes, I know that there are other factors at play here, but it's a good example of turning a prestige name into a laughing stock by misuse.

Info was given when I was on a factory tour of Solihull. China does have a factory but there's also a lot made in the UK and sold there. China factory was build to avoid some of the heavy import tax. Chinese peeps are generally smaller but they love the LWB RR. Reason being it's a status symbol. I think it was 1 in 6 of Solihull built vehicles goes to China. Sales jumped 38% when the new king of the world was born and seen being put into a RR. Now that's advertising.

Thing is when you look back you have to compare the cars to the technology of the time and what else was on sale in the 80's. The SD1 was great but it was reliability that caused the problems. Time will tell if LR has got the Evoque convertible right but going by their sales and current demand the design team must pis liquid gold.

Last good car Rover ever made was the Rover 2000 it's been down hill ever since.

Wow, I thought I was alone in hating the Evoque!
To me, it looks like they designed a mini version of an amazing car, then dropped a piano on the roof, to 'Esquash' it!
Completely agree that convertible looks like a toy!

Stop using the piano on the roof thing it's copyrighted by me. :D:D:D

Peeps will buy it eeven though it's said to be priced at £10k above normal Evoque prices. Tratterers may not like it but you drive **** heaps anorl. So your tratterers have a lot in common with the Evoque. :p :)

My take .. it's a Landrover .. I'd rather buy it, whatever they call it, than a BMW/Audi/Merc/whatever.

Landrover aren't making the Defender anymore, I say get off the high horses, if they could sell them at home they would have ... how many on here bought a Defender brand new? 99% of my friends and mates bought second hand Landies ... 1 bought a brand new RR Sport, I know no-one who bought a brand new Defender.

I just wish I could afford it ... ;)
